A shocking and brutal crime has shaken the city of Eunápolis, Bahia, after the dismembered body of a woman was discovered just hours following the violent murder of a 19-year-old man inside a convenience store. According to local authorities, the young man was shot multiple times on Tuesday afternoon, triggering panic among customers and staff.

Shortly after the initial crime, police uncovered the woman’s mutilated body near the scene, suggesting a possible connection between the two gruesome incidents. Witnesses reported hearing gunfire and seeing individuals fleeing the area in a car.

Investigators are working to determine whether the dismemberment was an act of retaliation or an escalation of local gang violence. No arrests have been made, and forensic teams are still identifying the woman’s remains, which were found scattered and partially hidden.

This string of violent acts has sparked fear and outrage among residents, raising urgent calls for increased security and swift justice. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of more victims being involved as the investigation unfolds.

Update:

The Civil Police of Eunápolis have confirmed that the gruesome murder of 22-year-old Ana Luiza Lima Brito is directly connected to the execution-style killing of Matheus Rodrigues de Souza, 24, which took place on the night of Monday, the 23rd, in the Gusmão neighborhood, southern Bahia.

Ana Luiza’s dismembered body was discovered early Wednesday, the 25th, abandoned on a dirt road in the Delta Park area, near BR-367—roughly 10 kilometers from the site where Matheus was shot dead. In a chilling detail, one of her hands was found inside a bag, with two fingers ripped off, and a note was shoved in her mouth. The contents of the message have not been disclosed.

Police say Ana was killed by members of the First Command of Eunápolis (PCE), a faction aligned with the Red Command (Comando Vermelho), as a direct act of retaliation. According to investigators, Ana had allegedly leaked Matheus’ location to rivals from Bonde do Maluco (BDM)—the group she intended to defect to.

“She was a PCE dealer switching sides. The video clearly shows her involvement. The PCE seized her phone and saw that she was sharing information with BDM,” a police spokesperson reported. Authorities also stated that Ana and Matheus were not romantically involved, although they had been in contact for a week since his release from prison.

Police have identified the individual who killed Matheus, believed to be the same enforcer responsible for executing BDM’s enemies in the region. His identity remains undisclosed to protect ongoing investigations. The killer of Ana Luiza, however, remains unknown.

Ana’s mother addressed the tragedy on social media, expressing sorrow but not a call for justice: “Justice will not bring my daughter back.” She reflected on her daughter’s path, saying, “This is the result of disobedience and rebellion—of thinking she owned the world.”

This violent episode underlines the intensifying drug war in Bahia’s southern regions, with deadly consequences for those caught between rival factions.
