A 23-year-old man identified as Juan Diuare Costa Pinto—an alleged partner of Pedro Brito de Jesus (PBL), a notorious executor for the Bonde do Maluco (BDM)—was discovered dismembered this Sunday, August 17, 2025, in a vegetated area behind the Arnaldão neighborhood in northern Eunápolis.
According to police reports, Costa Pinto was captured the previous day in the Moisés Reis neighborhood by members of a rival gang. He was subsequently tortured, killed, and hacked apart with a machete. The perpetrators were caught in the act of transporting the remains for burial, but fled when the police vehicle approached.
Investigators revealed that the extreme brutality—dismemberment followed by a video of the act being circulated in messaging apps—was likely intended for intimidation and as a demonstration of power by the gang.
Recent inquiries show Costa Pinto had recently allied himself with PBL, who is recognized as one of the most wanted criminals in Bahia, designated as the Jack of Clubs in the state’s “Crime Deck.” PBL has been linked to multiple homicides this year, often carried out while riding a motorcycle.
Notably, PBL and Juan are believed to have been involved in a deadly attack on August 9 in the Pequi neighborhood’s Santa Terezinha Street—an assault that left three dead and one injured. The police also suspect them in a shooting at a bar owner on August 15, who remains hospitalized.
