A shocking discovery was made on Thursday morning (4) in the west zone of Manaus, when a canoeist found a dismembered body floating in the river in the São Jorge neighborhood. The victim, in an advanced state of decomposition, was missing his head and limbs and was dressed only in shorts.
According to initial reports, the canoeist spotted the remains caught in a fishing net near a stilt house around 11:00 a.m. and immediately alerted the authorities. The Fire Department arrived at the scene shortly after and removed the body from the water.
Forensic experts later examined the corpse and confirmed the presence of three stab wounds on the torso, adding to the brutal nature of the crime. The circumstances behind the murder and the identity of the victim remain under investigation by local police.
