Gafargaon, Bangladesh – The decapitated body of a middle-aged man was discovered tied to a tree with his hands bound. The victim was wearing trousers but no shirt, with hack marks visible on his chest. His severed head lay beside the body’s feet.
Using fingerprints, police identified the deceased as 44-year-old Kawsar Alam. He had left home in 2009 after a family dispute over the purchase of a microbus and never returned, even after his father’s death four years later. In 2019, he briefly contacted his elder sister from Dhaka, claiming to have accumulated significant assets and urging the family to relocate to the capital. No further contact was made after that.
The motive behind the murder remains unclear.
