Brazil. Three suspects died and one was arrested following a military police operation in the early hours today in the north zone of Rio de Janeiro. The group was occupying a vehicle that was intercepted, sparking an armed confrontation.
According to the 16th BPM, the criminals were leaving one community to reinforce members of another community, both controlled by the Comando Vermelho, amid an ongoing territorial dispute with Terceiro Comando Puro traffickers attempting to invade the area.
After the initial confrontation, the suspects tried to flee, leading to a chase. During the tactical siege, their vehicle lost control and crashed into a pole. Three occupants died at the scene. The fourth suspect, who was injured, was taken to the State Hospital and arrested.
Officers seized two rifles, a 9 mm caliber pistol, a grenade, a ballistic vest, two communication radios, and the vehicle used by the group. The case was forwarded to the Civil Police for further investigation.
One of the dead was identified as the drug trafficker Caio, a leader of the Comando Vermelho (CV) in the area. The other two were drug traffickers Lomão and Jota.
