ACCRA, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) — At least 11 persons died and 13 others sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle collision in the Ghanaian capital early Thursday, the Ghana National Fire Service confirmed. The crash occurred at the Ofankor Barrier on the Accra-Kumasi highway and involved two tipper trucks, two minibuses, two saloon cars and a tricycle. Emergency teams arrived after a 4:00 a.m. distress call to find passengers trapped in the mangled vehicles. Rescue crews extricated 11 unconscious victims who were later confirmed dead and rushed the 13 injured to Achimota Hospital. Authorities continue gathering information to determine the cause.
