The decomposing body of 35-year-old beauty queen Acquene Arradaza was discovered by fishermen on 4 August, drifting off the coast of a seaside village in Tacloban, Leyte, Philippines. The victim was found naked, gagged, blindfolded, with her hands and feet bound, and a bicycle lock fastened around her neck. Tattoos on her back confirmed her identity.
Investigations revealed that Acquene had been abducted on 31 July in Ormoc City while shopping for groceries. Surveillance footage captured a Toyota Wigo (plate 1799) stopping at the roadside, before three men emerged, forcefully dragging the model into the car. She was believed to have been murdered, hogtied, and weighed down with rocks before being dumped at sea.
For reasons still unclear, her family only reported her missing on the same day her body was found. Acquene’s sister, Patricia, said the victim had been speaking to a man named Pay-ap D. on the morning she vanished. The family had already endured tragedy when her brother, Eros, 30, was killed in a gunfight with police during a drug bust.
