In a tragic and violent accident early Friday morning (20th), a couple was killed instantly when their car collided head-on with a tanker truck on the BR-316 highway near Angical do Piauí, in the state of Piauí, Brazil.
According to reports from the Military Police, the two vehicles were traveling in opposite directions when, for reasons still under investigation, they crashed violently. The force of the impact completely obliterated the car, ejecting both occupants from the vehicle. The victims—retired police officer Rogaciano d.O. and his wife Ivone, a school teacher—died at the scene.
Eyewitnesses claim the truck driver fled, abandoning the tanker at the crash site. Authorities have launched a search operation to locate the suspect and determine the cause of the deadly collision.
