A brutal stabbing shocked Santana do Manhuaçu, Minas Gerais, on the night of Friday, September 5, 2025. Just hours after leaving the Manhuaçu prison, a 26-year-old man, Eduardo Júnior Madeira Dias, was murdered in the Nossa Senhora Aparecida neighborhood.
According to authorities, Eduardo had been released around 8 p.m. after serving time for homicide. By 10 p.m., while walking to a local bar to buy cigarettes, he was ambushed on Rua Maria Sebastiana de Jesus by three assailants allegedly seeking revenge for a past killing attributed to him.
Witnesses reported the attackers were armed with knives and stones. Despite attempting to flee, Eduardo was caught and stabbed multiple times, including a fatal strike to his throat. He was rushed to a health post but was pronounced dead on arrival.
