Last Tuesday, notorious bandit and kidnapping kingpin Alhaji Tuku Bosho Gusami was killed in July 2026 during a massive military offensive in Zamfara State, Nigeria. His death occurred during a major joint sweep by the Nigerian Army and local vigilante forces, which reportedly neutralized over 300 bandits operating across northwestern Nigeria. He was intercepted during an intense, day-long battle that lasted from 9:00 AM until 11:00 PM. Alongside Tuku Bosho, several of his key commanders, fighters, and close relatives, including the son of fellow bandit leader Shehu Bagiwaye, were neutralized. His body was severely mutilated by troops and local hunters as a psychological deterrent to prevent remaining gang members from continuing their kidnapping operations. The same military operation also led to the elimination of another feared bandit commander, Sani Kachalla Yellow, whose corpse was publicly dragged through local towns to signal the breakdown of the bandit networks. For years, Tuku Bosho Gusami and his syndicate terrorized farming and herding communities throughout Zamfara, Sokoto, and neighboring areas. They orchestrated mass school kidnappings, levied heavy illegal taxes on vulnerable villages, and murdered security operatives.
