ACAPULCO, Guerrero – The bodies of two young men showing signs of execution-style killing were discovered early Monday inside the trunk of a white-and-yellow taxi abandoned on the federal Mexico-Acapulco highway, directly in front of the Casa Blanca pozole restaurant near Colonia Moctezuma.
The grim discovery highlights the escalating territorial war between criminal groups in Acapulco, Mexico’s most violent major city. Despite repeated promises, Mayor Abelina López Rodríguez has yet to implement significant security measures, leaving only 300 preventive police officers on active duty for the entire municipality.
