Merangin, Jambi — A horrific discovery stunned residents of Sungai Ulak village after a couple from West Sumatra was found hanged in their rented home on Monday. The victims, identified by the initials SD (44) and IR (43), had only been living in the Merangin area for about a month before the tragic double suicide occurred.
Local authorities reported that the couple’s lifeless bodies were discovered suspended by ropes in what appears to be a mutual suicide pact. The chilling scene was further intensified by the presence of a handwritten suicide note fragment, believed to be their last will.
While the motive remains under investigation, early indications point to psychological distress and possible financial hardship. Police have not ruled out other factors and continue to gather evidence.
