In a chilling act of violence in Basanti, South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, a man named Bimal Mondal brutally beheaded his sister-in-law, Sati Mondal, on Saturday morning, using a sharp weapon. Following the gruesome murder, he shockingly carried the severed head and the bloodied weapon through the streets, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Eyewitnesses reported that the accused, while roaming the streets, was cursing the victim and her husband. He screamed that he had “paid back” for the injustices done to him, displaying intense rage that left onlookers too frightened to intervene. Some passers-by managed to record videos of the horrifying scene on their mobile phones.
After some time, Bimal Mondal surrendered himself at the Basanti Police Station, still holding the severed head and the murder weapon. Police swiftly detained him and began interrogating him to determine the motive behind the horrific crime.
A district police official revealed that the accused showed no remorse during his surrender and may not be in a normal state of mind. Authorities suspect a long-standing family feud may have led to the chilling murder.
